To complete this idea you would need an SMS gateway for operators to engage in the interaction. Ultimately this information needs to find itself into marketing databases preferably with an email address. There is an excellent open source SMS gateway and an excellent SMS Tutorial that will give you the basic ingredients. Many commercial options are available including an interesting start up called SMSDelivery. Another good service out of South Africa is Clickatell.

Certainly text messaging is not going away.
