Next Project : PBX in a Flash

A few years back I built out an Asterisk PBX system with my friend Allan Regenbaum. It was a fascinating experience, and I believe Allan still uses the box for hosting various voice mail solutions. For example, he later built a retail application where you could dial in at a store isle location (eg. home depot) and get some really detailed product information. (I think this may be superseded now by my broadcast appliance). Anyway there are a lot more uses for pbx and voip deployment.

Recently I re-visited one of the best sites on hacking Asterisk Nerd Vittles - reading from there I see he has now created the pbx in a flash series. Not to be confused with laying a pbx on a flash drive, this one CD install (for Windows, Mac or Linux) is a charming proposition. I have a spare Mac lying around so I plan to build this up as my next project.

Stay tuned.
